FPGA / Firmware Engineer – Defense & Space Sector

At Sener Aerospace and Space, we are looking for a talented and detail-oriented FPGA/Firmware Engineer to join our team in developing advanced embedded systems for the defense and space industries. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in FPGA design, digital signal processing, embedded programming, and hardware-software integration, with a strong background in regulated and mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and verify FPGA-based systems using VHDL.
- Develop and maintain firmware for Xilinx Ultrascale, RFSoC, and Microsemi platforms.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineers to define and implement system
- architectures.
- Perform simulation, synthesis, place & route, and timing analysis using tools like Vivado and Libero.
- Support hardware bring-up, integration, and validation in lab environments.
- Document designs and contribute to technical reviews and compliance processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with Xilinx FPGAs, including Ultrascale and RFSoC families.
- Familiarity with Microsemi (Microchip) FPGA devices and toolchains.
- Proficiency in VHDL, C, and Python for embedded development and test automation.
- Experience working in Linux-based development environments.
- Solid understanding of Git for version control and collaborative development.
- Background in defense and space markets, with awareness of standards such as DO-254, ECSS, or MILSTD.
- Knowledge of hardware development, including schematic and PCB design using Altium Designer.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with AXI interfaces, JESD204B, PCIe, and other high-speed protocols.
- Familiarity with embedded processors (ARM, MicroBlaze) and bare-metal or RTOS environments.
- Understanding of digital signal processing (DSP) and RF system integration.
- Strong debugging skills using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG tools).
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
