Our Toronto office is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. This position will be to work on projects for Rail transit infrastructure (High Speed, Metro, LRT, streetcars, subway extensions etc.).
The Geotechnical Engineer will contribute to form a key part of a growing geotechnical team. You will work with the Geotechnics Lead to support and grow the team, working closely with the other office disciplines of Rail, structural, civil, infrastructure and bridge engineering as well as independent geotechnical consultancy.
Job Requirements:
- Lead tasks for geotechnical numerical modeling projects that involve data evaluation and engineering analysis
- Scope and assist in implementation of field programs as they relate to data collection for numerical analysis
- Direct engineering activities, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations
- Complete design analyses for infrastructure-Rail projects
- Prepare numerical analysis reports
- Review structural and civil plans and specifications
- Test soils or materials to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel
- Review the work of and mentor entry level numerical modeling and analytical staff. Present results of geotechnical numerical analyses to other engineers, client representatives, stakeholders, and expert peer review panels
Qualifications:
- Civil engineering degree or similar required (masters or bachelors)
- Must have a P. Eng in Ontario
- 10-12 years of practical experience in Civil & geotechnical engineering
- Must have experience in Rail & Transit projects
- Design experience and knowledge in geotechnical, excavation works, foundation, tunnelling works, etc.
- Familiar with Engineering Modelling programme e.g. Plaxis, SAP2000, Geo Studio, etc.
- Must work independently and demonstrate the ability to show initiative
- Must be a collaborator who can also work independently
