Role Description:
We are seeking a CAD Technician (Civil Engineering – Rail and Roadway Design) with a strong background in civil engineering and proven experience in rail or roadway design. This is a full-time position offering hybrid work flexibility. The successful candidate will support multidisciplinary engineering teams by producing high-quality 2D and 3D designs and ensuring CAD deliverables meet the highest technical and quality standards. While proficiency in both Bentley and Autodesk platforms is required, most of our projects are delivered on the Bentley platform.
Responsibilities
Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for railway and roadway projects using Bentley (MicroStation, OpenRail, OpenRoads, ProjectWise) and Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil3D) platforms
Collaborate closely with engineers and designers to ensure CAD outputs align with project specifications, design standards, and client requirements
Review, check, and revise CAD drawings for accuracy, consistency, and quality assurance
Maintain CAD standards, templates, and documentation to support project efficiency and quality control
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior CAD Technicians, supporting a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Assist in digital delivery workflows, model coordination, and project data management
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a CAD Technician or Designer in civil engineering, with emphasis on railway and/or roadway\civil projects
Proficiency with both Bentley (MicroStation, OpenRail, OpenRoads, ProjectWise) and Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil3D) platforms
Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and Caltrans design standards (or equivalent DOT standards)
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and supporting digital delivery workflows
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Associate degree, technical diploma, or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting/Design Technology, or related field preferred
