Our office in Toronto is seeking an Accountant to join us. The Junior Accountant is a new role designed for someone early in their accounting career who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a project‑based environment.
Please note: this role would be hybrid (3 days per week in office), and we are looking for someone at the junior level. This is a new role based in downtown Toronto at 130 Adelaide street west.
Responsibilities:
Support full‑cycle accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
Assist with monthly close tasks such as journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Prepare and maintain basic GL account reconciliations
Help compile monthly cash flow information and other internal financial reports
Provide analytical support to the accounting team, including variance explanations and project‑related data
Collaborate with project teams to gather documentation and ensure accurate financial records
Assist with year‑end preparation, including audit support and schedules
Qualifications:
Postsecondary degree or diploma in accounting, or finance
Working toward an accounting designation (CPA) is an asset
1–2 years of accounting experience, ideally in construction, engineering, or another project‑based environment (co‑op/internship experience included)
Foundational understanding of full‑cycle accounting principles
Exposure to project accounting or interest in learning project‑based financial processes
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with accounting software is an asset
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a sense of urgency
Willingness to learn about project costing, billing requirements, and contract‑related accounting concepts over time
