About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Structural Engineer to join our team, where you will play a key role in the design, and evaluation of various structural systems for a variety of major infrastructure projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven engineer to contribute to impactful projects while growing within a dynamic team.
Responsibilities
• Structural Design: Develop detailed structural designs, calculations, and drawings for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.
• Analysis: Conduct structural analysis using software tools and manual calculations to assess the performance, stability, and load-bearing capacity of structures.
• Design Management: Manage and oversee the structural design in the projects from inception to completion, including adherence to the budget and scheduling, and coordination with the project management, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to integrate structural solutions seamlessly into overall project designs.
• Quality Assurance: Perform structural engineering analysis and design to Australian Standards and contribute to design reviews ensuring adherence to the Quality Assurance processes.
• Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports, design documents, and construction specifications.
• Innovation: Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to implement innovative solutions and enhance project efficiency.
About You
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• National Engineering Register or the ability to obtain the register within a reasonable timeframe.
• Minimum 7 years of proven experience in structural engineering, with a track record of successful project delivery.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., Space GASS, SAP2000, Strand7) and basic knowledge of drafting tools (AutoCAD/Revit).
• Strong understanding of Australian and International relevant building codes and standards.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to safety and sustainability in engineering practices.
• Understanding of the design development process.
• Ability to work to and report against the Project Schedule including Earned Value status reporting.
• Understanding of the cost management process and reporting.
• Understanding of value engineering vs cost procedure.
• Dedication to “Safety in Design" principles.
Additional Preferred Experience
- Chartered Professional Engineer, CPEng (or similar).
- Previous design experience on Australian based major projects.
- Previous relevant role for road or rail projects.
- Previous relevant role for building structural design.
- Experience with IDEA StatiCa.
- Design experience using BIM and digital engineering tools.
- Understanding of constructability issues.
