Currently, we are looking for a Junior Electrical Designer to join us in our Toronto office in downtown Toronto. (hybrid role- 3 days per week in office)
Role Overview:
The Junior Electrical Design Coordinator will support the coordination and integration of electrical design deliverables for transit infrastructure projects. This role focuses on ensuring design consistency across disciplines, managing documentation, and facilitating communication between design teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Electrical Lead in team coordination (schedule, MoM, etc.)
- Coordinate electrical design activities for transit stations, tunnels, and related infrastructure
- Review and track electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Assist in managing design interfaces between electrical systems and other disciplines (civil, mechanical, signaling).
- Support the preparation and maintenance of design schedules and deliverable trackers
- Facilitate design review meetings and document action items for resolution
- Ensure compliance with Ontario Electrical Code, transit authority standards, and project specifications
- Assist in resolving design conflicts and responding to Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Maintain accurate records of design changes and revisions in accordance with project protocols
- Collaborate with BIM/CAD teams to ensure proper integration of electrical models
Qualifications:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical technology
- 1-2 years of experience in electrical design coordination or related field
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM workflows
- Experience in Rail & Transit is an asset but not mandatory
- Understanding of electrical systems for transit or infrastructure projects
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of design standards for transit projects (e.g., Metrolinx, TTC)
- Experience with document control systems (e.g., Aconex, ProjectWise)
- Exposure to multidisciplinary design coordination processes
