We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Earthworks with a minimum of 10 years of earthworks design experience, including at least 5 years on rail projects, to support major railway infrastructure developments in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This opportunity is focused on attracting qualified KSA Nationals with a strong technical background in railway earthworks design. The successful candidate will lead and undertake earthworks, grading, railway formation, material balance, and constructability activities while coordinating closely with track, alignment, drainage, geotechnical, structures, roads, utilities, environmental, and construction teams.

Key Job Responsibilities:

1. Lead and undertake earthworks design activities across concept, preliminary, detailed, and tender design stages.

2. Develop and review earthworks strategies, grading designs, cut-and-fill solutions, railway formation designs, slope geometries, and associated documentation.

3. Prepare and review calculations, drawings, digital models, specifications, technical reports, quantities, and design submissions.

4. Coordinate earthworks designs with railway alignment, track, drainage, geotechnical, roads, structures, utilities, environmental, and construction disciplines.

5. Support earthworks optimization, material balance assessments, spoil management strategies, borrow-source planning, and mass-haul considerations.

6. Assess constructability, ground conditions, slope interfaces, drainage requirements, environmental constraints, and construction sequencing.

7. Identify and resolve design issues, earthworks risks, multidisciplinary interfaces, and technical coordination conflicts.

8. Provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers while supporting the delivery of high-quality design packages.

Job Requirements:

1. A minimum of 10 years of professional earthworks design experience.

2. At least 5 years of earthworks design experience on rail projects is mandatory.

3. Proven experience designing earthworks for major railway and metro projects.

4. Strong experience in railway formation, grading, cut-and-fill assessment, slope design coordination, material balance, earthworks quantities, and constructability.

5. Demonstrated ability to prepare and review earthworks calculations, drawings, digital models, reports, specifications, quantities, and technical submissions.

6. Strong understanding of earthworks interfaces with track, alignment, drainage, geotechnical works, roads, structures, utilities, environmental requirements, and construction activities.

7. Experience contributing to earthworks optimization, spoil management, borrow-source planning, mass-haul assessments, or construction sequencing.

8. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience on major railway, high-speed rail, freight rail, commuter rail, or metro projects.

2. Experience delivering infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC region.

3. Knowledge of regional ground conditions, earthworks practices, and relevant international design standards.

4. Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer, or an equivalent professional registration.

5. Experience within an international multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.
